Hometown: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Tribal Enrollment: Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe

Major: American Indian Studies

Why he chose the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: "I was born and raised in south Minneapolis so I was always well aware of the University's presence and the strong academic traditions it holds, so it was a no-brainer for me to choose a Big Ten school in my own hometown."

Favorite University of Minnesota class: Afro-American Studies 3112 - In the Heart of the Beat: the Poetry of Rap; "Not only did I get to talk about and learn more about my favorite type of music, but the class also sparked some of the most engaging and thought-provoking discussions on race, ethnicity, socio-economics, politics and American culture that I ever experienced in my academic pursuits. My professor for the class was Alexs Pate, the author of Amistad, which just goes to show the quality and distinction of professors the University has to offer."

Favorite student organization: "I liked going to the American Indian Student Cultural Center to get free food and meet other Native students."

The one experience students shouldn't miss: "Although it's important to stay on top of your studies, having fun and getting out and meeting people is an important part of the college experience, whether it's joining student groups or going to cheer on the Golden Gopher football team on Saturdays."
