Why she chose the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: "I love the combination of a large city paired with a small community feel on our campus. I am a firm believer that it is easy to make a large university feel small and much more difficult to make a small university feel large. We have the benefits of excellent academics, small class sizes, and great research opportunities in all disciplines on each of our campuses. We also have all the opportunities that a large city has to offer--internships, beautiful architecture and cityscape, easy access to Metro Transit (our city bus system), and great music and theater scenes. The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities has a close knit student body with multiple clubs, groups, and activities to become involved with to form your community on campus. In short, the U of M offers its students a great balance between a small school feel with large school opportunities."

Favorite University of Minnesota class: Introduction to Creative Writing: "This class is one that many English majors take in their first or second semester of college. It is a great place to not only meet other students with your same interest in language but also a place to let your creative juices flow. You spend time in the class reading, writing and critiquing poetry, fiction, and non-fiction with your classmates. Your class time will be filled with writing your own pieces and reading them aloud in class and also attending lectures that are hosted by guest authors who have written some of the works you have read during class."

Favorite activity on campus: Gophers After Dark, the ongoing special events at Coffman Memorial Union. They hosted all sorts of fun activities for students including free movies, free food, free concerts, and even a late night game of dodge ball!

Advice for students who are applying: "Visit campus! The best way to determine how you feel about your fit at a school is to experience the campus first hand. Be sure to specialize your visit so you can experience all the things that interest you during your visit - attend a class, talk to current students, meet with a professor, and see a residence hall."
